BELOVED COMMUNITY
June 2022 Themed Exhibit
at The Meetinghouse
On Saturday, June 4th, The Meetinghouse will welcome social activist Anita Howard to lead a one-day immersion on Beloved Community coming out of her experiences of working with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement.
She will share from her journey with Dr. King through the 1950s-’60s as he championed social action aimed at creating The Beloved Community, a global community of caring where poverty, hunger, and injustice are no more. In the wake of the COVID pandemic and post-George Floyd era, the structure of community is being challenged and forged anew. This is an invitation to Danbury, Ridgefield and the surrounding community to explore what forms of beloved community are seeking to emerge.
The Beloved Community exhibit invites submissions that explore what it means to be a just and loving community. This exhibit is a wonderful opportunity for artists at any stage in their career to share their work. Proposals will be accepted through April 20, 2020 and works in all media will be considered. Notification of acceptance will be emailed by May 14, 2022 and they must be delivered to the gallery by Sunday, 5/22/22.
The entry fee is $25.
