Cost: $40 \nLed by Kate Loewengart\, RYT 200 Hour & Mindfulness Instructor\, Wellness Resident at The Meetinghouse \nThe poetry of Sanskrit wisdom and the prophetic nature of ancient chants have the power to bring us together more deeply as yogis and those hoping to make change in the world. Sanskrit is a language that teaches us that while words have meaning\, it is the physical experience of those words — their vibration — that allow for connection and integration. Kirtan\, or community chanting\, offers a path to experience this vibration through bhakti (BHAK-tee)\, the yoga of devotion; jnana (gyah-nah)\, the yoga of wisdom; and mantra\, the yoga of sound. Designed for anyone curious about mantras and chanting or those with experience ready to practice in community\, this workshop will include a discussion of meaning\, an exploration into the significance of chanting for both the personal and communal\, group chanting\, and a closing restorative practice that savors the energy we create through sound. Each yogi will leave with a deeper understanding of kirtan as a practice\, a chant or mantra that speaks to them\, and a mala to continue practice at home or in community.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for Poets and Prophets at The Meetinghouse\nWhen: Sunday\, April 27\, 4pm-6pm\nWhere: The Historic Meetinghouse—605 Ridgebury Road\, Ridgefield\, CT followed by a reception in The Market in the Martinsen Barn\n  \nAs we honor the history that has shaped us\, we also look ahead to the journey unfolding before us: The Meetinghouse is more than a place—it’s a living\, breathing community where ideas take root\, conversations spark transformation\, and new paths emerge. \nWith that in mind\, we invite you to a special gathering that embodies this spirit of learning and growth! \nSome of you were present at the launch of Poets & Prophets at The Meetinghouse\, just five days before we entered what we thought would be two weeks of sheltering in place. Others have participated in retreats\, offering valuable feedback on an emergent theory of Formation.  You also participated in online cohorts with global leaders\, and generously shared your journeys\, wisdom\, and insights. Your contributions helped to shape the development of a Formational Journey for Change Leaders\, blending theoretical knowledge with practice. This work has now been distilled into a TEDx Talk on its way to being a book. \nOn Sunday\, April 27th at 4:00 PM\, we would love to share this talk with you\, followed by an after-hours reception in the Market located in the Martinsen Barn.  You will also get to meet the Meetinghouse & Market team! \nRSVP below.
