Phenology in the New Year

Join us at The Meetinghouse!
Saturday, January 3, 2026
11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Phenology is the science of nature’s calendar—tracking when things happen outdoors. Think of it like noticing the first spring flowers, the arrival of migrating birds, or the changing colors of fall leaves. Scientists use this information to understand how seasons and climate affect plants and animals.
In this fun workshop, you’ll:
- Learn what phenology is and why it matters for our planet.
- See why timing is important, like how blooming flowers match up with pollinators or how climate change can shift seasons.
- Become a citizen scientist! Get tips on observing your own backyard, schoolyard, or favorite park and sharing your data to help real scientists.
You’ll receive starter materials to launch your own nature-tracking adventure.
Who: Middle school students and up
