Submit Information

The Meetinghouse is a historic and well-loved community space, and we are seeking proposals from qualified professionals to help care for and preserve it.

The details below outline the building’s history of repairs, current needs, and instructions for submitting a proposal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Has there been a hazardous materials report done for the Meetinghouse?

No.

When was the exterior painted?

Exterior of building painted 2022. Lead containment precautions were taken with the assumption that prior layers of paint could contain lead. Rotten wood near the fire door and around the bell tower was replaced at the time. We do have a rudimentary report of what work was done on the exterior by the painter.

When was the roof last attended to?

The roof shingles were replaced in 2011. Photo of roof from the 2022 painting:

When was the last time the interior was attended to?

Insulation was added to the walls and floor in 2010. At the same time the interior walls were restored: wallpaper covering was removed, wire mesh and plaster were fixed, and the walls were painted.

When was the carpeting installed?

The carpeting was laid in 1980. I believe it is the original flooring below.

When was the narthex tiled?

It was re-tiled in 2010.

The attic:

There will be a ladder available for access, as well as directions. Photo (from 2020) of the attic looking from the front of the building towards the back:

The windows:

The windows are original to the building. As panes have broken, we have tried to replace the glass with old glass, to preserve the look, but that has not always been possible.

Temperature control:

In cold weather, the oil-fired hot air furnace is used. When the building is in use the temperature is set to about 68°. When the building is not in use, the temperature is kept at about 55°. In warm weather, windows are opened, and fans are used as needed when the building is in use. When it is not in use, the windows are closed, and the fans are off. Both the running of the fans and the blowing of the heat can create noise issues for those with hearing difficulties. We believe the furnace was replaced around 2010 but have no documentation for that.

Mildew:

In talking to others, we all seem to recall that the mildew on the walls developed after the exterior painting in 2022.

Are there drawings of the Meetinghouse?

No, we do not have any architectural drawings of the building.

Is there an archive of old projects?

A very rudimentary one at best, but access will be granted to whatever that will help.

Submission date and time:

Proposal responses must be submitted by close of business Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

How many copies of the proposal?

Three copies of the proposal and one digital copy are requested.
