Randy Carboni
Award winning Randy Carboni is a contemporary painter born in 1965 in Ridgefield Connecticut, residing and working in Bethel, Connecticut. Whether working in watercolor or oil, his work is full of energy and emotion. His subject matter ranges from plein air, still life, animals and people. Art has always been a way to keep harmony in my life. I am always learning and exploring with my art as that keeps me and my viewer interested and excited for the next piece. When working in watercolor I start each piece with an ink drawing using the eyedropper from the ink bottle. While the ink is wet various items can be dragged or pressed into the ink. Colors are applied with a brush and also manipulated with various items found in the studio. Randy Carboni’s website: All artwork is available for purchase directly from the artist. Diana Gubbay
Ever since I can remember, I have puzzled questions of the meaning of our lives on this spinning planet. As a child in my home in Montreal, I had early premonitions of a larger purpose, of something vital that could not be destroyed even after the body had finished its cycle. I wanted the path of an artist as a means to engage these questions.
I moved from Canada to New York City in the late 1970’s at a time when the city’s streets, lofts and galleries were burgeoning with experimentation and innovation. A Bauhaus training in ceramics and undergrad and graduate degrees in studio Fine Arts laid a foundation of skill and knowledge, and from my loft in Dumbo I created installations, drawings and sculptures that were shown across North America. These works explored concepts of house and home using architectural forms as inspiration. The power of gesture to invigorate drawings and sculptures kept a thread of my interest in the underlying energy that animates all life.
A long hiatus ensued. I moved to Connecticut, where I was fulfilled in raising two children while establishing a practice in holistic family health. I looked deeply into concepts of health and illness and found connections with my earliest childhood questions. I saw that symptoms of disease could be prescient signposts to deeper questions of what needs to be healed, and that concepts of the immune system could be enlarged to encompass a life force that is always striving to establish equilibrium. It has been a privilege to accompany people of all ages on a quest to manifest their gifts and talents in the fullest possible state of health.
Reestablishing artistic pursuit in the last several years, I found a changed art world. I learned entirely new techniques that include digital media. In playful abstract works that celebrate gesture and color, and in pulsing circles that suggest both the macro world of celestial bodies and the inner vibrational colors of deep mediation, I am finding a rich engagement with the creative process.
Living in a small town in Connecticut with daily access to the lush natural world of New England has inspired me to create works through which I express my delight, awe and wonder at the natural world and its links to dream-like visions of a vibrating universal energy that embodies some of my earliest premonitions.
Kelly M. Urso
Kelly M. Urso feels enriched and balanced when creating. She is diverse in subject matter, mediums, and schemes, since she was a child. Her favorite enrichment would be immersing herself into watercolors to capture the expressions of her subjects or the emotions of the day. Besides capturing the appeal in florals, animals, homes, and landscapes, she enjoys finding the unexpected beauty in a glass of ice water or a bathroom faucet. She would never dare purchase a greeting card. She is ready in her home studio with paper cutters, envelopes, and an abundance of scrap watercolor paper to create a greeting or condolence in the spur of the moment. The creativity does not stop with the painter’s brush. It is constantly moving and coming up with new inspired ideas to sooth her soul such as making barn quilts, stained glass, rope baskets, pottery, rock stacking, and wood turning.
Kelly creates at her home in Sandy Hook, CT which overlooks the Housatonic River and is nestled in the towering oaks and pine trees. She would like to give special recognition to her watercolor art teacher, Claudia Mitchell, for her creative guidance, patient direction, and encouragement to paint outside of the box. Otherwise, Kelly has been happily on her own nurturing and exploring her own creativity.
The work in this exhibition is available for purchase directly from the individual artist.
