Dag Hammarskjöld wrote, “The longest journey is the journey inward.” Perhaps that’s why so few attempt it. Leadership training often focuses on developing skills while skipping the deeper shaping of body, mind, and spirit. But without the inward journey, we lack the rootedness to release what no longer serves us and embrace our true call.
Six relationships help us build and sustain a strong core:
- Spiritual Life – Staying connected to the Source of our values.
- Relationship with Self – Learning self-love, including shadow work and mentorship.
- Mentors and Guides – Welcoming those who challenge and support us—and offering guidance in return.
- Friends and Family – A circle of trust that celebrates and corrects with grace.
- Community of Service – Serving where our gifts meet real needs.
- Integration of All – As Frederick Buechner said, “The place God calls you to is where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”
We don’t grow in isolation. We are shaped in relationship—spiritually, emotionally, communally.
That’s why we speak of The Meetinghouse as a verb: a way of being, belonging, and becoming.
A place to reclaim core.
A place to grow character.
A place to begin again.
