Dear friends,
There is a French proverb that reminds us that “gratitude is the heart’s memory.” As we arrive at the eve of Thanksgiving, I’ve been reflecting on the many ways gratitude lives in and through this community. Each of us comes to this holiday with our own mix of anticipation and tenderness. Some step into tomorrow with joy, surrounded by family; others will gather with friends who have become like family; and still others will spend the day in quiet, reflective company with themselves. However the day unfolds for you, may you know there is room for it all.
I want to take a moment simply to say thank you.
Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for your presence, your creativity, your generosity.
Thank you for helping make The Meetinghouse a place where people can gather, grow, and flourish.
In a world where loneliness has become epidemic, what we are co-creating together matters deeply. Every conversation shared over coffee, every act of kindness, every gathering around art, nature, wellness, leadership, or simple neighborliness—these become threads that weave us into community. You are helping craft a sacred commons where belonging is nurtured and where people find strength, solace, and hope.
As you enter this long weekend, may gratitude settle gently in your heart.
May you find moments of beauty and rest.
And may you remember—wherever you are, and however you spend the day—you belong.
With deep gratitude,
