A Solstice Gathering: Reflection, Light, and Community

Happy holidays, everyone.

At The Meetinghouse, we are using the arrival of winter to think deeply and envision the year to come. Recently at our staff meeting, we asked ourselves questions about the work we are doing, and what we want the work to be in the future. It was inspiring, and exciting to think of all that lies ahead.

What better time for all of us to reflect than now, as darkness engulfs us calling for introspection, and as we approach the solstice, looking forward to the light that will come once again.

Join us in this journey. On December 21st, we will host a full day of chances to not only bring light to darkness, but allow ourselves time to honor this shift in light and seasons.

The Meetinghouse schedule for December 21:

  • 1 pm Forest Bathing: Join Heather Cochrane to observe and bathe in the winter forest. As the seasonal changes set in, we will reset ourselves and honor the forest in its phase of letting go. (Note – this event takes place outdoors, so please dress for the weather.)
  • 3 pm Lantern Making and Parade: John Kate Loewengart to make lanterns. Supplies await, just bring your own jar! Once our projects are complete, we will take a brief stroll on the property for a solstice walk — families and friends of all ages are encouraged and welcome.
  • 4 pm Open Mic at The Market: Gather in the warmth of the cafe for community & music — see your neighbors’ talents, join in the glow of the light we create together.
Learn more and sign up for all of these events here.

Bundle up and head over! We can’t wait to see you and have a moment before the holidays, before the new year, before spring, before all that lies ahead. Let’s honor this season as a community and bring light to Ridgebury.

With Gratitude,
