Hello everyone,
As the wind picks up these past few days, we can’t help but think that change is coming. This intense weather feels like a cleaning out of sorts. Leaves fall, limbs bare, nature reveals its soul in the form of stick season and the evolution into winter.
This year feels especially rushed. It’s not even Thanksgiving, and we are all longing for the true holiday season. It’s creeping out earlier all over…yet beyond the mall and town decorations, it’s clear what we are really longing for: a sense of joy, of coming together, of light in darkness, of hibernation and sweaters, friends and gatherings. It feels like exactly what we need in this moment.
So today I simply want to remind us all to ask ourselves what we need. To reflect on our own state of being as the days turn dark and the wind feels cold. We can feel more introspective as the seasons shift. We can also feel anxiety about the holidays ahead. We all experience this shift differently and it’s so important to meet this moment for your own well-being.
As the Wellness Resident I would love to tell you to take a yoga class, as yoga is a truly simple way to create time and space to see your own true self through your very own eyes. Yet this radical self-awareness can happen in so many ways — perhaps for you this happens when you walk, when you cook, when you drive down a beautiful road. When you garden or hug your grandchild, or when you perform an act of kindness for others.
There are many paths to self-awareness. Yet no matter how this happens, exploring your own path is a vital part of a healthy community that values transition and reflection.
At the studio, we are offering special holiday classes to create this space, in community. Come together with others who are engaging in this important work and practice together.
- Thanks + Giving Flow with Kate on Thanksgiving morning at 9:30 am
- Chair Yoga with Fanta on Friday, November 28 at 12:00 pm
- Yin Yoga with Fanta on Sunday, November 30 at 3 pm
- Reiki + Restorative with Kristy + Megan on Sunday, December 7th at 10 am
- Yin Yoga with Fanta on New Year’s Day at 11 am
All of these classes are timed to help us slow down exactly when things might feel like they are moving faster, and help us reflect and observe during this time of change, obligation and connection. On and off the mat, give yourself the space to discover yourself and the world around you.
Through these eyes, you might begin to see the wind providing fresh air, or the trees releasing what no longer serves them. It is through this mindful presence that we can bring light to the darkness, together.
Namaste,
