September 2026 Update – Catalyst for Community Engagement

Hello everyone!
As we enter autumn, music is flourishing at The Meetinghouse, and the garden is almost complete! This month we were happy to host two concerts and an open mic. Here’s a quick recap:

On September 12th, we welcomed the two new bands for their first Meetinghouse concert, Room De Dark and Propolis, alongside my band XUR. Propolis drove all the way out from Lowell, Mass. It was super cool to have them out here for their first Meetinghouse show. Propolis and I go way back: I toured with one of their drummer’s old band, Wax Input, in 2024. Now back with a new lineup and a new sound, Propolis rocked the Meetinghouse with their heavy bass and shining guitars. We also hosted Room De Dark, a NYC-based dream pop band who boast two members from Ridgefield! I was very happy to host a band from Ridgefield for a home-town show.

A few days after that, we had another open mic night in Shield’s Hall, which featured a wide variety of performances ranging from poetry, to ukulele songs, karaoke, and our first stand up comedy act! Thank you for attending, and look forward to the next one on November 18th at 5pm!

On September 25th, we hosted the band Whalefall, a popular Meetinghouse 2-piece acoustic act, for their guitarist Cal’s birthday show! This was a great night of music featuring Chris Daly, a returning Meetinghouse performer, Mikey Die, brand new to The Meetinghouse, and Intac all the way from Boston who stopped by for a quick weekender tour. There was a beautiful purple sunset just before music began, pictured here:

Finally, The Meetinghouse garden is almost done! Next time you’re enjoying a coffee at The Market, please take a peek through the back window to see the progress!  We just finished putting up the fence posts, and our volunteers, led by Henry, will be installing the fence in the next few weeks.

I’ll be away for all of October as I travel through Japan for my first solo adventure out of the country! I’ll be flying back to Chicago a few days before Halloween, where my band will pick me up for a week-long tour, ending at the Meetinghouse on 11/7. Ja, mata! See you then! Looking ahead, stay tuned for the following events:

And more to come! Thank you!
